How To Clean a Earphone Ipod Audio jack

Sometimes only one side of the earphones works and sometimes giving the jack a twist and a turn will make both sides of the earphones work. If this is the situation with your Ipod and your pair of earphones, the audio jack inside the Ipod and the 3.5mm jack wired to your earphones can be dirty. When dirt gets onto these connectors, it can cause weak contacts. So before replacing the audio jack on your Ipod, giving both of them a quick clean should do the trick!

Instructions on  how to clean a earphone ipod jack:

1)Buy some household rubbing alcohol, which can be bought at a hardware store.

2)Unscrew the cap of the rubbing alcohol bottle and gently pour the rubbing alcohol into the cap.

3)Dip you earphones jack into the cap that contains rubbing alcohol.

4)Remove the earphone jack from the cap and shake the earphones jack to remove any excess rubbing alcohol.

5)Insert the earphone jack into the Ipod output jack, using your hands spin the earphone jack  5 times in a circular motion. When you spin it, you are cleaning the earphone and Ipod jack, so make sure you give it a good spin!

6)Let the Ipod and earphones jack dry for 3 minutes, this is so the rubbing alcohol can evaporate.
