If you are experiencing a grainy picture on your television, when you are using an Xbox 360 hd DVD player to watch movies, the reason why the grainy look can occur is because the sharpness on your TV can be set too high. If you don't know how to adjust the sharpness on your TV, refer to the manufactures user manual for exact instructions. Once you know how to adjust it, adjust the sharpness setting on your television, by adjusting it lower then it currently is, which should help towards reducing the grainy picture look and effect.
It could be the cheap cable that your are using with your Xbox 360 console to provide a hd signal to your television. If it is a cheap cable you bought from Ebay, it is likely to reflect on the picture quality, making it look like crap. This is because cheap cables use cheap wires and connectors. So replace it with cable that has gold plated connectors, that is made from quality brands from companies like "Sony" or "Philips", you will tell the difference.
If you have tweaked with the sharpness setting on your TV and there is no improvement on getting rid of the grainy picture look, then the movie that you are experiencing grainy looks with has probably had the grainy effect added into the movie to give a comic feel to enhance the watching experience. To identify if your movie is the cause to this problem, insert a different hd movie into the Xbox 360 hd DVD player. If that movie also has a grainy picture effect, then there is a possibility there is something wrong with your television. If you don't get a grainy picture effect, then it is obvious that the movie had the grainy effect on purpose to create a comic feel and there is nothing you can do about it.
