How To Fix a Subwoofer Thats Not Working On a Computer

A Subwoofer is great for high end multimedia computers with high end sound cards, to add more bass from music, movies and games. If you have a subwoofer connected to your computer's sound card and the subwoofer is not working, below are solutions to help you fix your not working computer subwoofer:

1)The first thing you should check if the subwoofer is getting any power. Most computer subwoofers have a built in powered amplifier, and have a led light to let you know if it is switched on. If you have switched the electrical outlet and the connections are fine and the led power light is not on, it shows your computer subwoofer is not getting any power. If this is the situation, then i recommend you check the fuse in the plug. Sometimes the fuse can be blown, if not the fuse, then replace the power adapter that supply's the power to the sub.

2)If power is not the issue, then check if the subwoofer 3.5m, jack is connected into the correct socket in the sound card. All computer subwoofers have to be connected into the yellow colored jack, located on the sound card. If you have connected your computer subwoofer into a speaker or microphone socket, then obviously the sub will not work.

3)If the computer subwoofer jack is connected into the correct sound card socket, then go into control panel and configure it. Sometimes when you add new speakers and subwoofers, you will need to enable the sound card to send output signal through the subwoofer socket, so you subwoofer can receive the sound and amplify it into bass.

4)Test your computer subwoofer on a mp3 player, simply by plugging in the yellow 3.5mm jack into the earphone socket. Power on your subwoofer and turn up the volume, can you bass? If you can hear bass, then there is something wrong with the sound card settings. If you can't hear bass from the sub, then it is damaged and will either need repairing or replacing.
