How To Identify If Your Car Subwoofer Is Clipping

What is clipping?

Clipping happens when a car amplifier is over driven, clipping occurs when the car amplifier increases the voltage or current, that it can't cope with it. A car amplifier is asked to create a signal that is higher then the maximum capacity, the car amplifier with then amplify that signal, only up to the maximum capacity limit, which means the signal will not be amplified no more. When the signal goes beyond the maximum capacity, the signal cuts out and the sound quality is reduced, which is know as clipping.

How to tell if my car amplifier is sending a clipping signal to my car subwoofer?

*If the car subwoofer plays distortion and the bass sounds muddy.

*If the car subwoofer cuts out at high volume levels.
