How To Prevent a Car Subwoofer From Blowing Up

If you are scared that one day you car subwoofer is going to blow up or stop working, then below are some top tips to help prevent that from happening:

1)Never overpower your car subwoofer, with more rms watts then what the car subwoofer is recommend. If you have a car amplifier that is a higher rms watts rating, than the car subwoofer, reduce the gain on the car amplifier, to reduce rms power, this is to prevent the car amplifier from burning out the voice coil in the sub.

2)Make sure your car subwoofer and amplifier are tuned to the frequency that the enclosure was tuned to. For example if a car subwoofer ported enclosure's port is tuned to 30Hz, the car amplifier need to be set at 30Hz. If you don't match the Hz, sooner or later you car subwoofer will blow up eventually. If the car subwoofer is placed in a ported enclosure, make sure you turn the subsonic filter on, to prevent unwanted frequencies the car subwoofer doesn't like, if the car subwoofer is in a sealed enclosure, leave the subsonic filter turned off, unless it is bottoming out.

3)Although you probably cant' resist it, but don't crank up the volume of the car subwoofer to the maximum level, nearly every day. The more you do the more strain is put on the rubber surround, spider and voice coil and it will eventually make the car subwoofer stop working.
