The iphone 5 has a charging port, which allows you to connect either a mains or usb charger to charge up the internal battery pack. Overtime, using your iphone 5 on a daily basis, dirt and dust will be collected inside the charging port, from placing it in your pocket. This will create charging problems because the gold metal pins will be covered up and not have a good electrical connection with the charger plug. If this problem is happening to your device, you don't need to replace the charging slot. All you need to do is perform a clean and it should be good as new! No screwdrivers or other tools are required!
1) Power off your iphone 5. This is because you don't want to short out any of the pins while cleaning, as the power is still circulating when the phone is switched on.
2) Obtain a cotton bud, insert it into the charger slot and gently clean upwards and downwards on the metal pins. This will brush off any existing dirt or dust. Don't use any cleaning solutions because it will cause corrosion to the metal pins and cause more damage.
3) Connect your iphone 5 to either a wall socket charger or usb cable via a computer to check if it is now charging up. If the problem still persists, then i would suggest you to go back one step and carry out the cleaning process once again.
