A TV remote control plays a very important role in the family household. From kids playing Xbox to parents watching the news, everybody needs to use the television remote control to change the channels on the TV. If your tv remote control is not working, you can use the buttons placed on the TV itself most of time to use the different functions as an alternative.
1) Ensure that the batteries are fully charged or fresh from the packet. Its very rare that somebody would think of changing the batteries in a TV remote. This is because they rarely run out of a charge, but after 5 years of hard use they will need to changing. Most Samsung remote controls take with AA or AAA batteries depending on the model.
2) Batteries are inserted not the correct way round. Somebody might have dropped the remote control on the floor and put the batteries back into the control. They might have not put them in the correct way even though they look fitted in properly. What you need to do is remove the battery lid and check that they are positioned according to what it says inside the battery holder. There will be a small printed diagram that shows you which way to place the batteries taking the polarity + and - into consideration.
3) The IR senor on the front of the remote could be dirty. This can happen if your young kids have been handling the control while eating. For example, having melted chocolate onto there hands can easily get transferred onto the infread sensor. If it does, this can cause problems such as the beam can't make contact with the television as well. So using a damp cloth give it a quick wipe and try again. Also ensure that the IR sensor on the front of tv is not covered by something. For example, letters or tissue box can cause your tv remote control to also not work.
4) Clean the buttons. Any of the buttons could be stuck down, if this happens none of the other buttons on the control will work at the same time. So the best way is to open up the control, remove the two halfs and remove the keypad cleaning it in soapy water. Once you have dried it out, place it back onto the control and build it back up. Sticky buttons are a number one cause to your tv remote control problems according to a recent survey that took place.
