The psp vita is a new handheld gaming console and because of that, it currently has many firmware related faults that Sony is working on to fix in the future updates. One of the most common fault for psp vita owners, like myself, noticed that randomly the console won't power on after you use the console. I have played Wipeout on it today and switched it off, went to continue playing the game, but it failed to power on. I kept on pressing the power on button down, but nothing happened, the screen was black and the power indicator on the home button didn't light up blue. I was about to return the console to my local game shop where i purchased it, as i assumed it was a internal hardware related fault, like the battery pack was faulty, or something wrong with the charger, but i found a solution to fix the problem, that made my psp vita turn back on again that i want to share with you.
Instructions:
1) Remove the game from the psp vita and memory card, if inserted into the system.
2) Hold the power button, which is found on the top of the console for 30 seconds, not letting go of it.
3) This will reset the psp system and allow it to reboot the software on it and refresh its memory.
4) After that, the console's power button will function properly, a quick fix that saved you returning your console to the shop:)
Depending on the firmware/software version it is running, you may see a recovery menu pop up on the screen:
5) The psp will switch on and a recovery menu will pop up on the screen and select 'Restart the psp vita system', using the direction pad and selecting that option by pressing 'X'.
6) Your psp will reboot back to normal on the interface menu and from there, it will power on and off like normal.
