How To Clean Scalextric Car Braids No Need To Replace Yet!

A scalextric car motor obtains its power source from the voltage provided by the metal grooves on the track. This is usually within the 12-15 voltage range. You may notice that if you turn the car upside down, you will see two silver rectangular braid pieces attached to the bottom chassis. This part connects onto the track and provides power to the internal circuit and motor inside the vehicle. Overtime, after numerous laps around the circuit, the braid will become dirty and can degrade the performance of your vehicle. You can quickly fit brand new replacement braids if you want to, but you can perform quick maintenance to the current ones that are already fitted and increase their lifespan further.

1) Turn off the power supply and remove the car you want to clean.

2) Turn the car upside down. You will see two small silver colour fuzzy brushes.

3) Get a tweezer and remove any unwanted hairs or threads trapped inside the brushes.

4) Then get a nail file and gently sand down each braid.

5) Finish off by shaping up the braids with a scissor and removing any loose braid particles.
