Ported vs Sealed vs T line vs Basspass
Ported Sub Boxes
Ported means that the box has got a port in the enclosure box.Basically if you want loud deep bass,then i suggest that you should consider a ported box for your sub.If you port it then you will increase loudness and you will turn more heads and increase db.But the bad points are they are more harder and tricky to build than sealed and require more time and effort involved.
Sealed Sub Boxes
Sealed are made for only sound quality and accurate bass response.If you want a easy box to build then this is the box for you.These type of box's are sealed air tight with silicon or glue,making sure that no air leaks and escapes out of the box.If you don't want spl then i recommend you go for sealed.If you like rock then it will sounds perfect.If you want quality from your subwoofers then tune your box down to 31-33hz range.
T-line Sub Boxes
These type of sub boxes are very hard and complex to design.They give more of a thump than deep bass and increase loudness.Some pacific frequencies will sound distorted and muffled,because t line boxes are tuned down to a certain frequency's. If you like rap and reggae music then this will be ideal for your listening tastes.This box will cost more to make than a sealed box because you will need more wood to make the tunnels and vents.
Basspass Sub Boxes
These boxes are just designed for loudness and competitions.These boxes give big bass output and make your car trunk flex.You also need to run more rms wattage to give your car subs more better bigger bass so the bass can pass and be forced through the vent. This are a little hard to make and design,i suggest up come up with a design plan,by using Google sketchup software.
