You may want to connect your car amplifier to a computer power supply and use it as a power source, which thankfully is possible and safe to do so. Computer power supplys are great if you want to hook up a car audio system in your home. When using a computer power supply to run a car amplifer and subwoofer together, make sure the psu has the same wattage as the rms of the sub and amp. For example if a sub is 300 rms and you car amp is 300 rms, you will need a 300 watt psu.
Below is a excellent tutorial in a video, that shows instructions on how to hook it up:

tanx alot it helped me not to blow yet another amp!!!
ReplyDeleteYou say to use a psu that has the same wattage as the amp. My amp is 500w at 2 ohms, but I'll be running at 300w at 4 ohms. Do I need a 300 or 500 watt amp?
