)Make sure you place your console in a place were nobody can step on it or trip over it, for example: if you place it in the middle of the carpet. Place your xbox 360 console, in a place that makes the console out of peoples way, for example: under you telly stand.
)If you have a older motherboard version, in your xbox 360 console, it is best to come up with a cooling solution. A older xbox 360 console is known to break down because of the components overheating, on the motherboard because Microsoft made poor cooling for them. I suggest you get 2 12 volt dc cooling fans and place them on the side vent of the console, making sure they blow hot air out of the case. Doing this will help keep your console run more cooler and reduce the chances of it breaking down because you are preventing it to not overheat. You can hook these fans to a 12 volt power supply adapter or a computer psu.
)Clean the inside of your xbox 360 console regularly. This is so you prevent it from overheating and having the red ring of death.
)Every 5 hours of consistent use of the console, turn it off for 30 minutes and then turn it back on. Repeating this process for every 5 hours, it will help the gpu to cool down to a cooler temperature.
)If you have a Nyko intercooler fitted on the rear of your xbox 360, i suggest it is best to remove it. Many reviews claim that the Nyko intercooler doesn't help to keep the console cool, as instead it makes the console freeze and overheat.
