What Makes a Subwoofer a Hard Hitting Ground Pounder?

To have a subwoofer that is a hard hitting ground pounder, the subwoofer will need to be tuned to a a low sounding frequency. The more lower the Hz is, the more you can feel the bass, rather then hearing it. If you want to make you subwoofer into a ground pounder, you need build a ported enclosure and tune the box to 30hz. Tuning your ported enclosure any lower then 30Hz, will not be beneficial for playing music, as music doesn't hit that low, only movies do.

As well as the tuning frequency and box enclosure, the more rms power you feed to your subwoofer, the more louder the sub will play and the more bass you can feel. The reason why is because the more rms power, the more movement of the subwoofer cone, which means more bass you can feel, as well as more sound pressure level. To make a decent ground pounder, you will need to be powering at least above 5000 rms watts, to your subwoofer.

Overall, it depends on the type of music, to help create a ground pounding subwoofer. Music that hits a low frequency, will help towards producing floor shaking bass. If you have a ground pounder subwoofer setup and you play classical music, on your ground pounder, it will not pound because this type of music doesn't contain low end bass.
