How To Connect 6x9 Speakers To Head Unit, Not To an Amplifier

If you have fitted a pair of 6x9 speakers in your cars parcel shelf and you want to power them and you don't have a car amplifier to give them full bass and treble potential, then you can connect the 6x9 speakers to the car head unit and get similar sound results. Wiring 6x9 speakers is not an impossible task; all that is required is speaker wires connectors and insulation tape.

Instructions:

1)Get your speaker wires and on each ends, attach the connectors onto the wires and then onto the terminals on each 6x9 speakers, with correct polarity.

2)Run the speaker wire down your car, so it reaches to the rear of the car head unit, this may involve you to remove side panels, so you can fit the speaker wires in your car.

3)Remove your car head unit from the din slot, look on the wiring harness for the rear speaker wires, there are two sets of them, one set is left and the other is right, both which have a positive and negative wires.

4)Use a wire cutter, remove the plastic insulation coating on the wires, this is to reveal the copper wire.

5)Now connect the 6x9 speaker wires with the colour coding, red is positive and black is negative, found on the wiring harness, with the correct polarity . Apply this step for the second 6x9 speaker. Once the wires have been connected, you can use insulation tape to tape the exposed braids of the wires.

6)Insert the car head unit back into the din slot.
