How To Turn On a PS3 With a Broken Power Button

The PS3 console has both 'Eject' and 'Power buttons placed at the front of the console. Any of these buttons can be used to power on your PS3 console. If both buttons are broken, you can't use them to make the PS3 console functional. The only way would be to replace the power switch board with a new replacement part. But for a temporary solution, you can use the PS3 Dualshock 3 controller to power on your PS3 console and do the same job.

1) Connect the PS3 console power cord plug into a mains wall socket and switch it on. Also ensure that the mains power switch located at the back is in the '1' position. If done everything accordingly, you should see a red color led appear on the front.

2) Obtain your PS3 Dualshock 3 controller and ensure that it is charged up. Look in the middle of the controller, you will see a small circle button that has a PlayStation logo on it. This is called the PS button and it is used to bring up the XMB menu during games. It also can be used to switch on your PlayStation console.

3) Press the 'PS' button found on the PS3 Dualshock 3 controller. This will then send a wireless Bluetooth signal to the PS3 console to command it to power on. If successful using this method, you will hear a beep sound and the red color led will now turn green.
