When manufacturers produce electronic goods, they purposely include security tamper resistant torx shaped screws. This is because most people don't own a special sized torx screwdriver at home, so they can't open it up. So this leaves most people in the position to send the product back to the manufacturer to sort out. If you are tech savvy and are good with fixing electronics, you can attempt to repair it yourself. If you don't have the correct size torx screwdriver handy, you can use a regular flat head to do the same job. I have personally tried this method myself on both Xbox 360 and PS3 torx screws and has always worked the first time.
1) Get hold of a flat head screwdriver that is the same size as the torx screw shape. Try to obtain the closest size screwdriver to the size of the head of the torx screw. This is because the flat head has to be the exact same size of the torx screw, in order for this trick to work.
2) Place the flat head of the screwdriver into the groove of the torx screw. Press it down really tight, get a good grip of the handle and forcefully turn it counterclockwise.
3) Once you have unlocked the screw, slowly turn the screw to remove it.
Remember if you do it too fast, you will damage the shape of the screw, so be very careful!
