Nintendo DS games are stored onto a
micro chip fitted inside the game card cartridge. At the bottom of the
game card cartridge, you will notice multiple gold plated colored metal contacts. When
you insert a DS game card cartridge into the slot on your console, they
make direct contact with the internals. If the metal contacts are dirty,
usually what happens is the game starts to freeze randomly or fail to load the
very first time. If you notice these types of symptoms, you will need to
perform a quick clean.
1)
Switch off your console and remove the game card cartridge from the
console. This is by pushing the top part of the cartridge inwards. Then
the spring mechanism will release it.
2) Flip the game cartridge around. This is so the label side is facing downwards and you can see the gold color metal contacts.
3) Obtain a cotton bud and dip it into rubbing alcohol.
4) Run the cotton bud across each of the metal contacts upwards and downwards. Continue like this right to the end side.
5) Leave it to dry for 30 seconds. This will allow the remains of the rubbing alcohol cleaning solution to dry off.
