If you own either a slimline or bulky fat version of the Sony PS2, there is no video on your television screen and the fan is spinning really loud, the console is clearly malfunctioning. If you are getting no video output but there is sound, its most likely not a hardware problem. The fan might be loud because it might need cleaning due to dust blocking the back and front vents.
1) Check your Television connections what you have made. Make sure the cables are properly inserted into their appropriate connectors. If they are loose at all, they will not connect properly with the pins inside causing no picture problems.
2) Make sure you are in the right AV mode on your TV. Just to ensure this is not the issue, go through them all using the remote control. This is because you never know you could be on the one that has nothing plugged into.
3) Try a different AV out cable either scart, composite or component. The one that you are using could possibly be faulty, the wires inside could be broken or damaged from day to day bending and moving around.
4) Reheat the solder points that connect the AV connector onto the PCB. You will need to open up your console to do this. This could possibly fix the issue because the connector points could be broken or rusted inside not causing proper electrical contact to take place.
