Well there are many people that have a Nokia mobile phone and have a fast 3G internet connection from their mobile phone network provider. Thanks to a great application called 'Joikuspot' you can turn your Nokia mobile phone into a wireless hotspot, using your phones internet connection. You have probably tried it on your laptop and you find it works perfect, just like a actually wireless router because the laptop can connect to the internet in infrastructure and adhoc modes. But when i tried connecting it to my ps3, it could not find the wireless hotspot Joikuspot created. The reason why is because the ps3 can only connect to the internet in infrastructure mode and not adhoc, this is the same situation with the psp console and Nintendo ds. So the answer is no, you can't actually connect your ps3 console to the internet using a Nokia phone and Joikuspot. But things can change, and maybe in the near future Joikuspot can some how support infrastructure mode.
Is there any other solution for this ?
ReplyDeletenow, it's still impossible..
ReplyDeleteyes it works bridge conections
ReplyDeleteI have a Nokia E-5 with JoikuSpot Lite version. Straight talk is my provider. I was able to do this with a little bit of workaround.
ReplyDeleteYou need the following: A router, laptop (with Windows 7 is easier)and a crossover ethernet cable (must be crossover and the package will say this).
Use your router and create a wireless network (instructions should be with your router or you can google the instrustions to do this)
Turn on your laptop and connect to your JoikuSpot hotspot. Turn on your router and run your crossover ethernet cable from the router to your PC. On Windows 7 create a bridge network using the following steps. Windows XP can also create a bridge but I do not know the steps but I am sure you can google it.
Click on Start - Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center - Select Change Adapter Settings. Select both the Local Area Connection and the Wireless Connection used to access Joiku hotspot. Once they are both selected, Right Click and select create bridge. Once the newly created Network bridge is created, right click on it and select "Status". When the window opens up, click on the "Details" button and record the following:
IP Address
Subnet mask
Default Gateway
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS
Turn on your playstation and go to the Network Settings and scroll to the Internet Connection Settings. Select Custom, then wireless, then scan. Once you see the network you created with your router, select that and enter the password you created. Once you get to the IP Address setting, select "Manual" to enter this information yourself. Use the information you gathered earlier to enter the information. Everything will be exactly as you recorded except for the IP Address. You will need to add 1 to the last number. Example, if the IP address you recorded was 172.90.2.2 then you would enter the IP Address as 172.90.2.3. Once all the information is entered, then proceed through the connection setup. Do not make any changes to any other prompts. When you get to the end, test the connection. You should now have a sucessful connection to the IP Address and Internet.
I hope this helped.
