The Nokia N8 has an internal WIFI antenna that can receive and broadcast wireless waves. This means that the device has the ability to transform itself from an ordinary mobile phone into a useable WIFI internet hotspot. A application that makes that possible, which you can download onto your Nokia N8 from the OVI Store is called 'Jokiuspot'. There are two versions of this application, a free light version that allows you to try it out, with limited features and a paid premium version that allows you to change the name of your WIFI hotspot and add password security. When you run this application on your Nokia N8, it uses the mobile phones 3G internet connection from your network provider for internet access and broadcasts it into a wireless WIFI adhoc signal. This allows you to connect your wireless compatible devices such as your tablet or laptop to your Nokia N8 and connect it onto the internet.
1) Once you have downloaded and installed either the 'Free' or 'Paid version of Joikuspot, you are now ready to proceed with setting it up correctly. To begin with, tap the icon of the Joikuspot application to launch it.
2) When the application has launched, you will see a small 'Green' color screen icon that says 'Start'. Using your finger, tap the icon to create a wireless internet accesspoint. A message will appear onscreen saying 'Allow Sharing Your Internet Connection With External Devices', to proceed further, tap the 'Yes' option that appears on the bottom left of the screen.
3) It will now ask you to select a 'Internet Access Point' setting that you use to connect your mobile phone onto the internet. So if your sim card network provider is 'Vodaphone', then you will need to select the 'Vodaphone' internet settings. If you don't have the correct internet settings for your Nokia N8, contact the customer service department for your network. This is so they can send you the correct settings that are compatible with your particular phone model, in order to make Joikuspot work.
4) Once the correct internet settings have been selected, then Joikuspot will create a mobile internet connection from your network provider and will turn it into a wireless signal to be broadcasted. Then you can search for the accesspoint that you have just created, on the device that you want to access internet on and connect it onto the internet. When you have finished browsing the internet, you can close the accesspoint created in Joikuspot by tapping the 'Red' color icon that says 'Stop'.
