How To Fix a Xbox 360 That Doesn't Show On a TV / No Display or No Video Output Problems

The Xbox 360 console contains an integrated graphics video chip that is compatible with both the old style CTR SDTVs and new HDTVs. If you have hooked up your Xbox 360 console to your television and you see no display on your TV, check out the solutions provided below to help you troubleshoot this problem and overcome it.

1) Are you using the correct type of cable? There are two specific cables for two different televisions. A cable that uses composite connections, Yellow, Red, White RCA jacks, is used to connect your Xbox 360 console to a 'SDTV'. The other type of cables is called a 'HDMI' cable, which is used to display high definition resolutions to your 'HDTV'. So to begin with, ensure you are using the correct cable for your type of television because you don't want the video output to be in standard definition quality, when your TV has the ability to perform in high detention, if its a HDTV. This is because it will result in a blank picture as it produces the incorrect resolution.

2) Ensure that there are no loose connections. Connecters that are not firmly inserted into their sockets can cause bad connections, which could be a possible cause to no display on your TV. So check on the back of your TV if the Xbox 360 display out cable is firmly connected into its socket, also do the same for the other end of the cable that actually goes into the back of the Xbox 360 console.

3) Ensure that you are on the correct AV or HD mode. Sometimes what happens is that the you are on the incorrect mode on your TV that has no input signal is because nothing is connected into it. On the back of your television, you will see a small label underneath the socket you have inserted the Xbox 360 display out cable into eg. 'AV-1' or 'HDMI-1'. You want to ensure that your TV is on the same TV mode as the label shows. So lets say if the cable is connected into 'HDMI-1' socket, you want to use the remote control to find and select the 'HDMI-1' mode on your television.

4) Reset the display settings on your Xbox 360 console. Sometimes what happens is that the Xbox 360 console is setup to display the wrong type of resolution that your TV doesn't support. If that happens you will get no video output on your television. So attempt to reset the display settings to factory default because there is a good change it will resolve this problem.
