How To Make CB Radio Power Supply Using Car Battery Charger

You can make your own custom CB radio power supply with a car battery charger and some electrical knowledge at home yourself. That saves you going out and having to buy one. If you have a car battery charger lying around your garage and a spare car battery you can create your own home built PSU. The car battery will provide the 12 volts to power up your rig and the battery will be there to maintain the amps. This works perfectly just like how a car would run a CB radio. The only difference is that instead of the alternator charging it up from the engine, the car battery charger is used an replacement source instead.

1) Connect the 3 Pin cord into the back of the radio.

2) On the cable itself you will see two color wires. Red positive and Black negative.

3) Attach the red positive wire to the + battery terminal, using the red positive crocodile clip to hold down the wire from the charger. Do the same for the other side, but instead with the black negative wire and remaining clip for the other side of the car battery.

4) Now that the connections have been made, switch on your car battery charger. You will notice that the voltage will increase as more time goes by.

5) You can begin to use it straightaway, so switch on your CB radio. Now you are ready to talk with your buddies!
