The fiio e18 amplifier comes with an internal DAC option. Basically it is an built in sound processing chip, as well as an amp providing you the best of both worlds. The sound quality from most Samsung Galaxy phones are OK for general listeners for non audiophile owners. The old Samsung Galaxy S3 was the best and was always complimented for its phenomenal sound thanks to the Wolfson audio chip. After that the sound quality in newer Samsung phones went poor. To enhance the sound quality on your Samsung phone and make it sound louder, you can connect an external fiio e18 amplifier. You can also connect a E17 model as well.
Please be aware that you phone needs to be on Android 4.3 jelly bean as it contains the kernel for USB audio playback. You don't need to root your device its fully compatible with official firmware right out of the box.
1) Connect the OTG usb adapter into your Samsung phone.
2) Connect the USB charging/pc cable into the USB port on the adapter.
3) Connect the renaming micro end into the bottom of the amp.
4) There is a small switch right next to the connector. Flick it into 'Phone' mode and power on the amp.
5) The screen should say at the top usb device connected to confirm the connectivity made.
6) Connect your headphones to the amplifier and enjoy better sound quality!
