How To Fix LG TV That Wont Turn On It Just Keeps Making a Clicking Sound?

Many people after owning a LG TV for a couple of years from a brand new purchase notice that there LG tv won't turn on and it just keeps and clicking. After a few attempts of turning the LG TV on and off repeatedly they red light will come on and the television will power on. This is not normal and infact is a technical problem internally that is related to the hardware. The clicking sound heard is an actual relay that triggers the tv to come on, for example similar to a starter motor on a car. On the power supply board inside the TV, there are power capacitors soldered on that have the responsibility to store the power for a few seconds and release the charge to switch on the TV. When these become faulty, the LG TV will struggle to power on first time especially in the mornings, since its not been used for a long time and the power caps are not charged up enough.

If you are in this situation, you don't have to take your LG TV that keeps clicking to a TV shop for a repair, in fact with this free troubleshooting guide and some tools you can do it yourself at home and save you a ton of money.

1) Ensure that the TV is unplugged from the mains and has not been used for 24 hours. This is because they store an electrical charge and you don't want to end up having a electrical shock from handling the board.

2) Remove all the screws from the back of the TV and lift off the plastic panel placing it down beside a flat surface such as a sofa.

3) Locate the power board, unplug any connectors going into it and remove the screws to remove it all together.

4) Examine the power board and look for any bad power capacitors. Some signs of a bad power cap is when they look as if they are bloated and look really fat. Remove all these by unsoldering them from the board and leave the ones that appear to be in good condition.

5) Place your replacements into the same exact locations of the ones that you have removed earlier on and resolder then back into the PSU board. The repair is now done so all you need to do is join the LG television back up together, which won't take you more than 5 minutes.
