How To Fix Xbox 360 Thats Not Saving Date and Time Settings

If you notice that your Xbox 360 date and time settings are not being saved certain games will not function properly. Now like most gaming consoles, the Microsoft Xbox 360 doesn't contain an internal CMOS battery like the PS2 or Sega Dreamcast. So each time you disconnect the power from the mains, the date and time settings will not be saved. So if you Xbox 360 is not saving the date and time settings itself its not an actual hardware problem with the console itself, all users are facing the same problem. Many an unsure to why they didn't include a simple CMOS battery for the RTC chip on the board to save the date and time settings, as i doubt it would be a costly feature to put into the production of Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles.

Here are alternative ways which you can ensure that the Xbox 360 saves the date and time settings:

1) Ensure that your Xbox 360 console is always connected onto the internet. You can make this connection using an Ethernet networking cable directly plugged into your router or through wifi. This will ensure that the console connects to the Xbox live servers all the time, resulting in the time and date settings being updating automatically 24/7.

2) If you are gaming mostly offline, then i suggest that you don't unplug your console when running in standby mode. This is because the power from the mains maintains the power going to the RTC chip. As soon as you cut the power, the date and time settings will be deleted and will keep resetting each time.
