Are loud car subwoofers bad for your ears?

A subwoofer is in fact not that bad for your ears, if you keep the bass to a sensible volume level. If you have got big car amplifier and a car subwoofer that can reach over 150 db, you can damage your hearing and you can go deaf. The more higher the hz tuning frequnecy of your subwoofer enclosure is tuned, the more likely you will go deaf. This is because the higher the hz the more volume, the more lower the hz the more you can feel the bass vibrations. Hearing loss can only happen if you turn up the volume on your car head unit to the maximum level. Its ok to crank up the volume once in a while but not everyday! Small car subwoofer and less likely to make you deaf then larger car subwoofer because small subwoofer's have a smaller cone area and have less potential of being loud.

If you notice your ears hurt and you feel pain while bumping, turn down the volume! Remember that subwoofers and speakers can only damage your hearing if you let them!
