The ps3 battery inside the controller gets charged from the power that is provided by the usb port on the ps3. The Xbox 360 also has a usb port and it can also be used to charge up a ps3 controller, as it can provide charge to the controller the same way the usb port on a ps3 console. 1)Plug in the mini usb cable into the mini usb socket, found on the top side of the controller.
2)On the other side of the cable, plug in the usb connecter into a spare usb port on your Xbox 360 console.
3)Power on your Xbox 360 console and the four lights on the top of the controller that represent how many controllers, will be flashing red continuously, this happens because it can't find your ps3 console, but the controller is still get charged up.
4)When the ps3 controller is fully charged, the four lights will turn off. Then you can go ahead and unplug the usb connecter from the usb port and turn off your Xbox 360, if you not using it.
