How To Make PS4 Loud Cooling Fan Quieter

The PS4 has an internal cooling fan design to keep operating temperatures down and prevent overheating issues to occur. Many PS4 owners notice that the fan noise on the PlayStation 4 console becomes very loud after 30 minutes of use, especially with games like Killzone. Due to the PS4 having high end graphics hardware, lots of heat is always going to be generated. If your PS4 console has a loud fan, its normal and your console is not a manufacturer defect. To reduce the amount of fan noise, you can do a number of things to make your PS4 run cooler and quieter.

1) Ensure that there is enough room left behind the console. The PS4 has lots of air vents placed at the rear of the console. They are used to push out all the hot air out of the console. Placing your console right against a wall or TV cabinet will block the air vents, leaving the hot air to get trapped inside the console. So ensure that there is at least 10cm of clearance at the rear of the PS4 to allow good airflow.

2) Move your PS4 away from other electronics. If you have stacked your PS4 console on top of electronic devices, such as digi television box, then that can also raise heat issues. This is because other electronic devices will also generate heat while in use. This heat will also raise the temperature inside the PS4. So either turn off your other electronic devices, while using the PS4 console or move your console in a different location away from them.

3) Don't Place the console in a dusty location. Dust is the number one cause to make any gaming console run at hotter temperatures. This is because dust gets its way into the air vents of the console, eventually clogging them up and causing heat to get trapped inside. This can be prevented in the first place by ensuring that the location where you place your PlayStation 4 console is clean and dust free. You can use a household vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust to overcome this problem.
