The Xbox 360 is known to be very noisy during operation. In fact the Xbox 360 console generates more noise than the PlayStation 3. The main reason why is due to the noisy disc drive. When it loads up games, the disc drive makes the disc spin really fast. This can become a problem if you want to use your console in a silent environment, whic makes the noise seem more apparent. To overcome this problem, you can install the games directly onto the attached hard drive. The games will then load from the HDD and not from the disc, resulting in a much quieter console. However, you will still need to insert the game disc into the disc tray so that the console can authorize that you own a copy of that game. The installation process will take approximately 13 minutes to complete.
1) Switch on your console and insert the game disc into the disc tray which you want to install.
2) Then go onto the 'Home' hub, select the game in the console and press the 'X' button your gamepad.
3) Select the 'Install' option on the dashboard.
4) The game will now be in the process of getting installed. You will see a progress bar displayed onscreen to show you how much of the game has been installed.
