The Sony XB700 are well known to all bassheads due to their impressive response on the subwoofer frequencies. They contain huge 50mm drivers that can move some serious air and provide deep bass like no other end headphone before in combination with a fiio portable headphone amplifier. Wearing them is also extremely comfy, with the gigantic monster truck leather earpads, you can continuously wear them for endless hours, with any discomfort at all. Since the earpads are made from a soft leather material, it will eventually degrade and start to peel of especially inside the ear cup. You can obtain brand new replacement earpads and switch them over and make your Sony XB700 headphones feel and look new once again!
1) Get hold of a desk lamp. Place the light bulb directly facing towards the inside of the ear cup you want to remove.
2) You will see three small sized Philips screws around the actual driver holding the plastic in place.
3) You will need to use a Philips head screwdriver to remove all three screws. Once removed place them into a small container so you don't misplace them later on.
4) Turn the earpad from the left direction to the right. This will unlock it from the drivers housing. Now that you have removed it simply pop on the new cushion and follow these instructions in reverse order for reassembly.
