How To Connect a Computer cooling Fan to a psu

Connecting your cooling case fan to your computer power supply unit is best possible way because it gives a constant 12 volts to keep your fan spinning at a high rpm. The only downfall is you can't adjust the speed of the fan if your thinking of connecting your fan to a psu directly.

Below are some instructions that explain the process of connecting a fan to a computer power supply:

1)Unscrew the screws and open up your pc tower case, to gain access to the psu. Once you have removed the cover, place it carefully on a flat surface.

2)Wear a static band on your wrist, to help minimize damaging any components.

3)The power supply is a big, silver box that is at the top rear of the tower. Once you have located the psu, you will usually find a spare 4 pin molex cable.

Below is a image showing you what a molex cable looks like:

4)Once you have found the female molex get your 12 volt dc fan and connect its male connector to the female molex found connected to the power supply.

5)Mount the fan, using screws.

6)Get the cover and place it back on and insert the screws you removed earlier.

7)Power on your personal computer and check if the fan blades are spinning.
