Most people will use the stylus pen, which is supplied with their Nintendo ds console to navigate through game menus and so one. Some people use their finger, both ways are similar, although using your finger will cause greasy finger prints to appear on the screen. If the stylus pen is not working on your Nintendo ds console, but your finger is, you're probably not pressing hard enough on the screen with the stylus pen. If you are applying a good amount of pressure with the stylus pen and still the touchscreen is not responding, therefore not working, usually the touchscreen will need calibrating. When you calibrate the touchscreen, using a pen stylus, the screen will make adjustments, when you use the stylus pen to touch the dots. Overall, making the touchscreen more responsive using the stylus pen.
If the stylus pen is not working, you can't go to the calibrating menu on the ds, so use the d-pad instead. Once you're on the calibration screen, your in.
Calibrating the touchscreen on your Nintendo ds console is easy, i have provided a video below to help you:
You can calibrate the Original Nintendo ds, ds lite, dsi and 3ds consoles.
