You have the option to connect either a wired or wireless controller to your Xbox 360 console. The wireless controller would be the better option because it requires no physical wires to connect to the console. The only disadvantage is that you need to change the batteries every so often. If you notice that your Xbox 360 wireless controller is having problem connecting to your console or sometimes the buttons don't respond, you will need to hard reset it. Hard resetting it will regenerate the controller settings and connectivity.
1) Ensure that the controller is powered on while performing the reset. If it is currently switch off, hold down the 'Guide' button, found in the middle of the controller to power it on.
2) Flip over the controller, you will see a battery pack attached onto the back of the controller. Inside it, there are two AA sized batteries that provide power to the circuitry. What you want to do is remove it, this will cut the power and reset it.
3) So remove the battery holder cover. This by pressing down the button found at the top to release it. Hold down the 'Guide' button and leave it removed for 30 seconds.
4) Then reattach the battery holder. This is by lining it up with the back of the controller and pushing it in until it clicks. Your Xbox 360 controller is now successfully reset and is ready to be synchronized with your console.
