How To Reset a PS3 Controller to Factory Settings, Using The Reset Button

The Sony PS3 controller uses a wireless bluetooth technology to connect to your PlayStation console. Sometimes you might have problem trying to synchronize the PS3 controller with your console. This can happen if you have used the same controller on a different PS3 console before. Since it will be registered with the previous console it is used on. To refresh the controller, you will need to reset back to factory settings, in order for the controller to work on a new Sony PS3 console.

1) Obtain the 'PS3 dualshock 3' controller you want to perform the hard reset on and turn it around. If a USB cable is connected into, please remove it to ensure that reset doesn't get interrupted.

2) Look near the square sticker placed in the middle of the controller, which is found at the back. Next to it you will find a small tiny hole, inside it is a plastic reset button.

3) Now obtain a small object such as a 'Paperclip' or a 'Screwdriver' and press in the reset button. This will revert the controller back to factory default settings.
