How To Clean Portable Compact CD Player Laser Lens Eye

If you are noticing that your portable compact CD player is displaying a lot of error messages recently and is skipping music tracks, the laser lens is probably dusty. Each time you swap CD's, the dust from the bottom surface of the disc will get transferred on the laser lens. This obstructs the laser to read the data recorded on the music disc. This will result in problems trying to play the audio CD. To clean the laser on your portable CD player, you don't need to purchase a special disc cleaning kit. This is because you can access the laser lens when you pop open the disc flap.

1) Power off your portable compact CD player. Press the 'Eject' button to open the disc flap. Remove the CD from the disc drive.

2) You will see a small mechanism with a blue color eye. This is the lens of the laser, the part that reads information from CD's.

3) Get a 'Cotton' bud and dip it directly into 'Rubbing Alcohol'. Then place the wet side onto the lens of the laser and gently clean it upwards and downwards. Remember not to clean in a circular pattern because this can cause it to get scratched.
