Some gamers prefer not to play PC games using a keyboard and mouse and choose a games console instead for this reason. If you have a spare PS2 controller that you don't use, you can connect it to work with either your PC or laptop. You might notice that the PlayStation 2 controller doesn't have a USB plug. So you can't connect it directly to a USB port on your computer without any modifications. You will need to purchase an additional 'PlayStation Controller Adapter' to convert the standard 8 pin plug into a USB plug. This special adapter can be purchased cheaply on Amazon or Ebay. Once connected, you can use the DualShock2 gamepad with game emulators like PCSX2, giving you that PlayStation 2 gaming experience.
1) On the PlayStation controller adapter, it will have a port where you can connect the controller plug into. This port will look identical to the one found a PS2 slimline console. Obtain the plug for your controller and push it into the port found on the adapter.
2) The adapter will have a USB cable coming out from the box. This USB cable will allow the adapter to communicate with the controller and your computer. Plug in the USB plug into a free USB port on the front of your computer.
3) That's it your all setup now. The drivers for the controller to work with the games will already be recognized by Windows. You can use a software called 'Xpadder' to configure all of the functions for the different buttons if you prefer.
