How To Remove Solder Without Using a Soldering Iron / Gun

A soldering iron is a tool, which is used to melt down solder to secure electronics components down onto printed circuit boards. A soldering iron or gun has a heating element that heats up the solder. If you need to remove solder from a circuit board and you don't have a soldering iron, you can use a lighter. A lighter works by using the hot flame to melt off the solder. This saves you the hassle to purchase a soldering iron or gun, if you are only going to use it once.

1) Ensure that you have a lighter that has sufficient gas. Ignite the lighter, optimize the flame so that it is on the blue flame. This is because the blue flame is hotter than the orange flame.

2) Find the location on the circuit board you want to remove the solder from. Then ignite the lighter and aim the flame towards the solder. Keep it in the same position, until you can see that the solder is getting melted.

3) Then use a pair of handy 'Pliers' to quickly pull out the electrical component off the PCB. This is by gripping it at the very top with the pliers teeth, pushing the handles down and pulling it upwards.
