You can enable the parental control feature on your PS2 to prevent certain film content to be restricted. Usually, this feature is enabled to prevent kids playing inappropriate DVD movies on a PS2 console without your authorization. If you have bought a used PlayStation 2 console with parental control already enabled on it, you can reset the parental lock code. From there you can permanently turn off the parental control feature and make it unrestricted.
1) You will need to purposely bring up the parental control screen on your TV. So insert a restricted DVD disc into the console and load it up.
2) When the screen prompts for a parental control code, press the 'Select' button on the DualShock 2 controller and enter the default password: '7444'. A message should appear onscreen stating 'Deletion Complete'
3) Press the 'Select' button on the DualShock 2 controller. It will now ask you to enter a new parental control password of your choice. It will ask you to confirm it for the second time to ensure that it is correctly entered into the system.
4) Now that you have setup a new password, all you got left to do is to deactivate the password feature all-together. During movie playback, press the 'Select' button and choose 'Setup'. Select the 'Parental Control' tab and set the level of it to 'Off'.
