If you want to make your Subaru Impreza have a clean look, you can remove the 'Subaru' branding badges from the rear trunk lid. This procedure is known to car enthusiasts as 'DeBadging'. If you are going ahead with this, you will need to ensure that you professional remove it the correct way. If you just rip them off with a screwdriver, you will damage the paintwork and leave parts of the badge stuck on. Follow the instructions below to safely debadge your Subaru Impreza WRX STI. You will require a heat gun to heat up the glue and some dental floss to wear off the glue.
1) Locate the 'SUBARU' badge that you want to remove on the back of the truck lid. Each silver metal letter will be stuck on separately.
2) Plug in your heat gun into a wall socket and switch it on. Point the end of the heat gun directly onto the area of the badge for about 30 seconds. This will heat up the glue residue and make it easier to peel off. Please don't heat it more than the recommend time limit because you are risking melting the badge onto the bodywork.
3) Obtain your dental floss and place it right behind the metal badge letter. Now move it upwards and downwards rapidly, using a backwards forwards motion. This will saw away the glue safely and leave the trunk free from marks.
4) You will see that glue residue is left behind from the removal process. To get rid of this, simply apply some warm soapy water onto a polishing cloth and begin to scrub it away. Always stop regularly to see how much glue is left to remove. This is so you prevent yourself from over scrubbing and wearing off the paintwork.
