If you have stored your speaker in your garage during the winter seasonal conditions, its most likely developed rust on the outer magnet. This doesn't not have any effect on performance at all, apart from the looks of it that may concern you if you are going to invert mount them to the enclosure. You can easily remove and restore rusted magnets on any speaker or subwoofer driver. All you need is a can of WD-40 from your local car shop and a steel wet wool that is used to clean metal from a DIY store.
1) Turn the speaker upside down so the cone is facing downwards.
2) Next spray WD-40 onto the magnet directly. let the cleaning solution soak in for a good 5 minutes.
3) Get your steel wet wool and scrub really hard in a circular motion.
4) Stop half way. If you still see some remains keep polishing until they disappear making it completely rust free.
