If your Nintendo DS lite is making a high pitched sound when in use, it could be your charger that is actually faulty. Electronics making weird noises especially chargers show you a sign that they are going to stop working at some point. If its not that then the screen has developed a fault. This is due to interference being created between the bottom touchscreen and the outer plastic screen that the stylus makes contact with. It can be fixed, all you require is some tape.
1) Open up your Nintendo DS.
2) Remove the bottom housing so that it comes apart from the main screen.
3) Apply some thin layers of tape surrounding the outer screen inside the cover.
4) Build your console back up. Hopefully the high pitched noise should no longer be persistent.
