You can use an old GameCube memory with your Nintendo wii console as it officially supports it. You can use it to save game data onto it, created from playing GameCube games. If you are having problems accessing or managing it, you may want to perform a full format. Formatting it will delete all corrupted files that are stored onto it and give it a clean start. To perform the reformatting process, you don't require a original GameCube console. The Nintendo wii has the formatting option integrated into its settings, making it straightforward to carry out on the system.
1) Press the 'Power' button to switch on the Nintendo wii console.
2) From the main menu, find and select: 'Wii Options' > 'Data Management > 'Save Data' > Nintendo GameCube'.
3) Now obtain your GameCube memory card and insert it into the correct slot.
4) Select the 'Format' option. A short message will appear onscreen on your TV, confirming that you want to proceed further with the reformat. Press the 'A' button to select the 'Yes' option. Remember that once you do this, there is no way to retrieve the game saves later on!
5) The memory card will now be getting formatted. Don't remove the memory card from the slot during this, because you can damage the system files. Once the format is completed, you can begin to use your memory card with your games and remove it when required.
