If you have an older style PSP 1000 console you
might experience the speakers crackling when playing games or music at high
volumes. The cracking sound will be less apparent at low volumes and more
noticeable at higher levels. Users can also hear a popping sound with the crackling
on the psp speakers. This is normally due to dust or dirt trapped inside the
speaker vents that are place around the screen near the front panel. We have
seen some Sony PSP 2000 and 3000 slim models have the speaker cracking problem
as well. All you got to do to fix your psp speakers from cracking is to clean
the air vents.
1) Turn off your PSP.
2) Place your mouth of the speaker vent.
3) Suck inwards and outwards. This will unpop the
speaker and also remove any dust or dirt inside it at the same time. Do this
for the other speaker as well on the other side.
If cleaning the speakers on your psp don't work,
then you will perhaps need to replace them as a pair internally. They could
have been damaged from overuse or a fault speaker to begin with when it left
the Sony factory.
