Overtime, dust and dirt will get built up inside the internal cooling fan installed on your Gamecube console. This will obstruct good air flow and will promote overheating issues to occur more rapidly. On the left hand side of your Gamecube, you will see a square shaped grill. Behind it is a cooling fan that is mounted directly on it. The cooling fan extracts all of the hot air trapped inside the console outwards through the plastic grill. Cleaning the cooling fan is essential to perform, to decrease the chances of overheating issues to occur and increase its lifespan. If you don't clean it now, the fan will eventually stop working and fail at some point. You don't need to open your console to clean it. You can simply clean it externally and get the same job done.
1) Ensure that the Gamecube is powered off. You don't want to be cleaning the fan when the console is on and the fan is spinning because you can damage the bearings.
2) Turn your Gamecube towards the left side. You will see a square shaped grill located in the middle area. Behind the grill is a small computer fan that cools down your console.
3) Obtain a household vacuum cleaner and attach the pointed nozzle accessory. Switch on the vacuum cleaner and point the nozzle towards the dusty grill. The suction power from the hoover will suck up all the dust and dirt inside the grill and on the fan.
