How To Connect & Hook Up a Sony PS2 To a Portable DVD Player

Usually what most people do is connect their PlayStation 2 console to a household television. If you want a portable solution for the display, you can use a portable DVD player as the TV screen. On most portable DVD players, they will have three color RCA sockets on the back. Yellow for the video, white and red for the audio. You can connect the standard AV multiout cable that comes supplied with your PS2 into the appropriate RCA color jacks. Once the cable is correctly hooked up, it will send the video and audio signals directly into the portable DVD player and it will work. This method works on both bulky and slimline versions of the console.

1) Look at the rear of the PS2. You will find a socket labeled as 'AV multiout'. Insert the 'AV multiout' cable into this socket.

2) Obtain your portable DVD player, look at the back and locate the 'RCA' sockets. They will be yellow white and red color sockets.

3) On the other end of the 'AV multiout' cable, you will find three different color 'RCA' plugs. Insert each 'RCA' plug into its appropriate 'RCA' jack following the color coordination. For example, yellow RCA plug connected into yellow RCA socket.
