If you notice that your laptop fan is spinning really loud and the bottom feels more warmer than usual, it is suffering from overheating issues. This is most likely because of dust and dirt blocking the air vents placed in front of the internal computer cooling fan. This will prevent the fan to freely extract out the hot air generated from the CPU. This can cause the CPU to build up excessive heat levels more quickly and can cause the laptop to randomly shut itself down. You could just take apart your laptop for a proper thorough clean, but if you're not good with opening electronics it is not worth taking the risk. You probably won't know how to join it back together or you will most likely break the components. So the best method would be to clean the laptop fan externally using a vacuum cleaner. You could use a can of compressed air, but that would blast the dust back in and won't suck it out.
1) Power off your laptop. You don't want your laptop fan running when you are going to perform the external clean. This is because you can damage the motor from over-spin.
2) Get your household vacuum cleaner and plug it into a wall socket. Attach the plastic nozzle accessory that has the pointy end.
3) Locate the air vents of the cooling fan on the laptop. The most common locations on most laptops is at the rear or on the left and right sides.
4) Switch on your vacuum cleaner and point the plastic nozzle pipe directly into the laptop fan air vents. The suction power from the hoover will suck up all the dirt and dust on the laptop fan.
