How To Make Nokia Headphones Work On a Computer / Laptop

If you attempt to connect your Nokia headphones into the socket on your computer, you will notice that they won't work properly and the sound will be distorted. Even though they use the same silver 3.5mm jack as standard headphones come with, the wiring configuration is slightly different. This is because the Nokia headphones have extra features like a built in microphone and buttons to answer and decline calls. I have discovered a little trick that can make these types of earphones work, without the use of any adapters.

1) Open a music file in a 'Windows Media Player'. Ensure that sound track is playing and the volume is on maximum.

2) Connect the '3.5mm' jack from the Nokia headphones into the headphone socket on the computer or laptop. This socket will be 'Green' colored.

3) Insert the headphones into your ears. Slowly push the 3.5mm jack outwards, until you notice that the sound is clear and is no longer distorted. It will take some playing around with to find the sweet spot position on where it will work properly.
