The PS2 slimline is a much more smaller compacter version of the original console. Due to this, its also more fragile to handle in comparison to the older style that was built like a tank. Its quiet common for younger kids to break the flip top cover lids off accidentally on the newer model. If this happens you will not be able to close it and the disc will not spin and therefore you can't play your games or watch your favorite DVD movies. For a temporary solution, you can use insulation tape as a fix until your new replacement top part arrives.
1) Insert the game of your choice into the disc drive.
2) Carefully line up the flip top cover with the top part of the console.
3) Place insulation tape across all four corners.
4) Power on the console. If you want to switch games, simply undo the tape and place it back on.
