How to spot a car if its a jap import or uk spec

There are many cars that look really nice at auction or showroom that are for sale but sometimes they can be imported new or used from japan rather then being a uk model. The difference with import cars is that the parts that fit the engine are totally different for example uk cars parts will not fit the Japanese car spec.So finding parts for a jap imported cars can be really expensive from breakers and rear to find and plus your car insurance quote will increase slightly more than the uk car spec.Sometimes its hard to tell if the car is a import or not so there are some few tips that can help you indicated if the car is imported from japan or not.But the choice of buying a import or not is depending on what you think is best for you.

1)Ask the owner of the car do show you all the paper work for the vehicle, have a read through it carefully.Sometimes you maybe able to spot some history documents in Japanese writing. This clearly shows that the car was been in japan and imported into the uk probably from a import specialist

2)Check the dashboard cluster speedometer reads in kilometers kms instead of miles, then that again shows that its a import. If your deciding to buy a Japanese manufactures car then i suggest your get the clock changed into one that reads in mph if your going to be driving in the uk or usa.

  1. I totally agree with the point mentioned in the blog. It truly depends on person's requirement whether he wants to go for Japanese Import cars or UK based.

  2. When I checking japanese used cars, I check the mileage, jap cars mostly have low mileage! check also the paper and if available check the car history - previous car owner, date purchase or where it is purchases.
