How To Invert Mount Car Subwoofer Backwards

Usually, you see that most people that are into car audio that go to car shows, mount the subwoofers upside down to make them look cool. This provides many benefits, it makes the aesthetic appeal of the subwoofers look powerful because you can see that big beefy magnet sticking out. Mounting your subwoofers inverted, also provides more cubic feet in the enclosure it is fitted into. This is because the magnet and subwoofer basket is not taking up any internal volume, which helps achieve a deeper sounding bass both in sealed and ported types of boxes.

1) Your subwoofer is held down by 'Philips' head screws, which are placed around the subwoofer surround. So get a 'Philips' head screwdriver and carefully unscrew them all. Don't rush when unscrewing the screws because you might slip the head into the rubber surround!

2) Once the screws are removed, slip your fingers underneath the edges of the subwoofer and push it upwards. Be careful not to pull the sub out too quickly because the speaker wires connected could be too short and you might rip of the terminals.

3) If the speaker wire is long enough then you can invert mount it without any problems. If you believe that the current speaker wire is too short, it is best to extend it with the same size gauge wire.

4) Next flip the subwoofer upside down and line it up with the screw holes. Now insert each Philips screw into each screw hole and using a screwdriver screw all of them tight.
